Glass Bricks: Revolutionising Construction with Sustainability

In 2021, the Eco Centre launched an innovative project to address the issue of glass bottle waste in Mozambique. By collecting discarded glass bottles from the beaches, the Eco Center not only cleaned up the environment but also repurposed these bottles into eco-friendly building materials. Through a process of crushing, melting and molding, the glass bottles were transformed into durable bricks, which are now used in construction projects. This initiative not only reduces waste but also promotes sustainable building practices, as the glass bricks are more environmentally friendly than traditional construction materials. Additionally, the Eco Center sells these bricks, providing a source of income that supports its ongoing efforts.

This is a valuable example of how we can turn trash into something useful. It assists with reduceing the demand for mining the earth’s resources which are rapidly being depleted.

Well done to the @Repensar team of environmentalists!
